Named after the blue-grey sheep that still roam the area, the village, Nar, is a tightly-knit cluster of stone houses set amidst fertile terraces of land surrounded by steep mountains.
Phu village is located further northern part of Manang in the shadow of craggy cliffs interspersed with lush green pine and juniper forests.
In Nar, there are 300 inhabitants while Phu is about 150 inhabitants. Both the villages are largely depend on the yak herding and are Bhotia people. Bhotias’ believe in the Buddhist religion and the region is similar to Tibetan plateau. The region is connected by Kang La pass (5200m) to lower Manang area. The Hidden Valley of Nar and Phu have been opened for the tourists in 2002.
