Hiking - widely known as 'trekking' in the Himalaya - is one of the best ways to explore the natural and cultural beauties of the area. On trek you walk through the landscape, enjoying it at first hand: the scenic views of the high mountains, the spectacle of the rhododendron forests, the hillside settlements and rural villages, the monasteries and temples, the wildlife. Nor is trekking unique to Nepal: both Tibet and Bhutan offer excellent possibilities - including holy Mt. Kailash, Kham, the Kharta and Rongbuk valleys in Tibet, and Mt. Chomolhari, Laya/Lunana and Lhungtsi/Yangtsi in Bhutan.
